Kinnernet USA 2010 Musical Agenda

Below are the planned musical activities for Kinnernet USA  2009.

To join any of the activities, go ahead and sign up below!

Idea: Play a DJ Mix using your iPhone or iPad

Email Aviv - aviveyal07@gmail.com or Tweet me @avive, for a free promo code for DJ Mixer Pro App iPhone App so you can install it and mix your own music at the event on your iPhone or iPad

Miles Ward - I'm bringing the "bass" as it were, in this case the "Funk Engine" (a purple 400W sousaphone) OOOH and a Kaoss Pad. Contact me if you play ANYTHING MUSICAL so we can figure out a kickin' kinnernet band. @milesward

Cathy Brooks  -  I'm a vocalist and play a mean tambourine ... happy to chime in ... literally and figuratively. My music inclinations lean to jazz & blues, though I can hang with rock if need be :) ((cathy. this is miles. can you do a bootsy collins impersonation? ))

Gali Ross - ok, I'm in! after 4 Kinnernet Camps and very little musical activity, I would like to finally jump into these watters :-) count me in for any vocal needs - I sing Cathy style ;-)

Mel Rosenberg - I play and sing oldies (I mean oldies) on the guitar, also sing and play jazz standards (sax and keyboard), hope to join in. If you download the campfire app on the iPhone we can have an i-campfire. I plan to bring a sax, hope there will be someone with an acoustic guitar.

Dan Rosen - will bring acoustic guitar. Also sing. Please send ideas for cover songs for the band to learn. I will start a separate page for suggestions.

Songs for the band to learn

Guy Ross - will play keyboards

Steve Murphy - will bring electric guitar and amp, and maybe an FX unit or two.  Depending on songs/range I can add some vocals.  I can also bring a vintage monophonic analog synth if any keyboardists out there want to flashback to the 70's :-)  Also, if we don't get any drummers bringing gear, I can bring a basic drum machine (Boss DR550).

Amit Pitaru - I can play the blues on keyboards, but only in the Pentatonic F scale (due to an unfortunate pledge I made earlier this year).

+ Idea: I'll be bringing my Sonic Wire Sculptor iPhone app (http://sws.cc) and would like to try an improve duet with a classical performer. Any takers? btw - email me at pitaru.amit@gmail for a free code so we can make more noise together.

Gilad Lotan -

@Amit - I can play only Bach on the keyboard :) Will bring my notes to see how this duet might work!!

That said, I'll also be bringing my Trumpet. Warning:: ever since I was a kid my neighbors were horrified when I practiced... especially Saturday mornings. I'd spite them on purpose.

I've gotten much better, and then worse again. Nevertheless will be interesting!

past kinnernet setup / guideline:

What can YOU Bring?

Check out the Music Backline List, and let us know what you are able to bring.

People's Playlist / Eclectic Lounge

Each Kinnernet participant is hereby requested to provide 3 tracks by one of this methods:

  1. Easy - paste them in the Participants page
  2. Cozy up to the DJ - Enter them directly into a playlist at Playlist.com, user=KinnernetUSA, password=Bolger
  3. Non-mainstream / Hi-Fi - bring them on an MP3 (or audio CD)

This playlist will be shuffle-played to accompany mainly loungy and possibly louder music opportunities.

The idea behind the People's PlaylistTM school of DJ thought is that at any given time there would be at least one person in the room really digging the music - and able to answer "who was this?". .

Questions? Bugs? Email  Self-titled resident DJ: Edo Amin or comment below.

Ideas from past kinnernets:

* The Kinnernet Music Band

* Solo Performance

* "Dueling Banjos DS" (Duo performance, not solo)

* "Cool on the Lawn" Ethnic Ensemble

* Kinnernet Electronic Ensemble Playing urban beats at the Kinnernet late-night underground party

* Acoustic Lounge

* Live Band Karaoke: During the performance of the Kinnernet Music Band on Thursday after the Gadgethon, we will offer the unique "Live Band Karaoke": Just ask for any song, we'll Google the chords and the lyrics, and you can sing it right away, accompanied by the Kinnernet Music Band

* Drum Circle: We want to organize a "Drum Circle" where people can bang the beat and feel the heat. If you have suitable drums that you can bring, please list them below

Edo Amin - shaker

Gil Weinberg - Turkish Darbuka
